Trailer Life

Trailer Life

I started traveling and living full-time in an RV (a 20' Airstream travel trailer) in 2007. I had already been self-employed as a graphic designer (see www.SharonPieniak.com) since 1999, so my work was already set-up for nomadic living. My first travelogue, The Silver Snail covers my first 5 years on the road. Living full-time in a small RV is a unique way of living. I'll share my personal experiences here. Check the original Trailer Life page, too for notes from the past.

NOTE: In 2011, I traded in my 2007 20' Airstream Safari for a 2012 20' Airstream Flying Cloud due to a rotten floor issueSince then, I have stayed out west and avoided being in wet climates. So far, so good! The only major complaint I have with the 2012 Flying Cloud is that if I leave the hot water switch on, it will create too much pressure in the water lines and leak at the inlet valve. Luckily, I knew from previous experience to monitor that valve and caught it before another floor rot issue occurred. So I just make sure to leave the tap dripping when the water is heating up. One day, I'll work out a permanent fix.
